Symbol of the Square
My new series is titled Primordial Landscapes. Primordial is existing in the beginning or the ancient past. The landscapes I create also can be interpreted as dreamscapes of the natural world. I love the square format and continue using it. Squares are comforting, especially in an uncertain world. Squares symbolize stability, and foundation in which to build one's dreams. The newer works are larger, instead of using 12"x 12" wood panels, I've moved to 18"x18" and 24"x 24" - and continue using original photos taken on my iPhone. Instead of pea gravel in resin, I'm experimenting with shredded papers (again using throw away materials) and found objects I find on a whim. This piece is Nocturnal and one of my first landscapes using predominately black and white.
